Teaching Old Pixels New Tricks
I’m a firm believer that a designer’s toolkit should never stop evolving—mostly because “resting on your laurels” is a great way to get dusty. I decided to dive headfirst into the high-octane world of Adobe After Effects to see if I could make my designs dance. The following pieces are the results of that deep dive: experiments in motion that turned my static pixels into cinematic moments.
Dynamic Text Exercise
For this assignment, we were asked to synchronize text in After Effects to a popular song. I chose “The End” by The Doors and attempted to create a moody video that fitted the song.
Movie Intro Example
For this assignment, I attempted to recreate an intro to a 60’s spy movie using clip art from Vecteezy.com.
BEMA Logo Redesign
While at City College of San Francisco, I offered to redesign the Broadcast Electronic Media Arts (BEMA) department logo. I proposed to use a wave image to convey both a light and an audio wave transmission.
